Gear motors are usually used in can openers, garage doors, washing machine time control buttons, electronic alarm clocks and other devices. Commercial applications of gear motors generally include hospital beds, commercial jacks, and cranes. No matter which type of geared motor you are using, they work in the same way.
Basic principles of operation
A gear motor is either AC or DC. Most geared motors have an output of 1200-3600 revolutions per minute. These types of motors also have different types of speed specifications: normal speed and static speed torque specifications.
The reduction motor mainly uses a series of gears to reduce the speed, which also produces more torque. The purpose of deceleration is achieved by a gear or gearbox attached to the rotor of the main motor and through a secondary reduction shaft. The second shaft connected to a series of gears or gearboxes will produce a so-called series of reduction gears. Generally speaking, the longer the row and column of reduction gears, the lower the output at the end.
A good example of this principle is an electronic clock (a type that uses hour, minute, and second hands). The synchronous AC motor that charges the electronic clock usually rotates at a speed of 1,500 revolutions per minute. However, a series of reduction gears are used to clock the speed of hand movement.
Geared motor and booster
Geared motors are usually used in commercial applications, and in these scenarios, a series of equipment needs to be able to use more power to move a very heavy equipment. Examples of such equipment would include cranes or lift jacks.
If you have ever seen a crane in motion, then you will see an excellent example of how a crane works. As you may have noticed, a crane can be used to lift and move very heavy objects. Most motors used on cranes are motors that use basic deceleration principles to increase torque or power.
Geared motors used on cranes usually use very low rotational output speeds to increase torque. However, the deceleration principle used on the crane is exactly the same as the electronic clock. The low RPM speed will help increase the strength, so as to achieve the purpose of lifting heavy objects.
